Let’s talk DIY home decor ideas. We all know that decorating a house can be costly. I’m always looking for easy ways to bring a little life to my decor without spending a fortune. Enter – these DIY ideas! I’ve curated the best home decor ideas from around the web and gathered them here. None of these cost a lot and they are all so unique. I love the idea of creating something yourself to help decorate your home. (PS: These are some of my favorite blogs EVER too.) Let’s get started!
DIY Towel/Blanket Ladder
I love the look of these towel ladders! You can also easily make these for a living room to hold throws. They can be expensive to buy and also it can be hard to find one that fits the exact dimensions that you need. Especially in a bathroom. This DIY version looks as good as a fancy store bought one. Check out the full tutorial over on Sarah Sherman Samuel.
DIY Geometric Mirror
How about this beautiful mirror that looks like it cost a fortune! Surprisingly, this is pretty simple to make. Click on over to A Beautiful Mess to find out more!
There is something about the phrase IKEA hack that just makes your ears perk up. I personally LOVE IKEA. I feel that their quality has improved and they are always coming out with some piece of amazing furniture that I just have to have. Plus – there are some very creative people in this world that can take a basic IKEA item and turn it into something special. This chair here is no exception. With some simple gold spray paint and a fur sheepskin – this chair got some instant glamour. Check out the tutorial at The Key Item.
Fancy up some Basic Wire Baskets
Holy Moly I love this. This opens up a whole new world of storage ideas to me. Take some black spray paint and transform basic looking plastic coated wire baskets (that’s a mouthfull) into something pretty to look it. The little blackboard labels were also a great touch. See the full post on how to do this at A House Full of Sunshine.
French Seam Pillow Covers
There are never enough pillows in my house (or baskets or terra cotta pots). I usually just make a basic envelope pillow cover. But then I saw this and it stopped me in my scroll. French seam pillow covers? Heck, yes! These look so fancy and are just as easy as your basic envelope pillow cover. Delia Creates gives an AMAZING tutorial for how to make these french seam pillow covers. Obsessed!
Arm Knit A Blanket
On my DIY list for the new year is learning how to arm knit. These beautiful arm knitted throws and pillow covers and ottomans add that chunky, lived in, casual texture we all so desperately need and want in our homes. Get this gorgeous arm knitted blanket tutorial over on A Place of My Taste.
Add Trim to Basic Curtain Panels
If there is one thing that brings your decor to another level, it’s custom made draperies. But they can be so expensive. I love taking ready made, inexpensive panels and doctoring them up to look more expensive or custom. Here, some simple pom-pom trim gives new life to a simple pair of white panels. How cute would this be for a kids room? They look very Pottery Barn Kids to me. Get the full tutorial on Joann.
Macrame Wall Hanging
Macrame is still all the rage right now! These easy and inexpensive DIY macrame projects give a fresh and unique look to your decor. There are so many different ways of doing them. This wall hanging is so cool looking and gives a boho look to an otherwise plain wall. Find out how they did this at Koel Magazine.
DIY Rope Basket with Leather Handles
I can never have too many baskets in my house. Big, small. I love them all. And I can always find uses for them. This DIY idea takes simple rope and transforms it into something I would be proud to display in my living room. Those leather handles add such a great touch.
