Craftsman Christmas Home Tour 2017

Hi!  I’m so excited to have you guys here today to show you our Craftsman Christmas Home Tour 2017.  I waited a little longer than usual because (1) we were away and I was behind on my decorating and (2) I’m a perfectionist and I couldn’t stop zhushing.  Well, here we are!  For the most part I kept things pretty simple this year.  I didn’t decorate our playroom/TV room or any of the bedrooms this year.  We have a big renovation in the works and I’m in decorating limbo.  Those rooms will probably change.  Actually, most rooms will probably change.  It’s hard to focus and spend money on something you know will change.  You know what I mean?

Anyways, I’m so happy to welcome you to our home this holiday season.  Come on in and make yourself at home!  Here’s our living room.  The chairs and table get squished over to the side during the holidays but I don’t mind.  I love having that pretty tree up in our picture window.

This year, I decorated our tree with pops of blue, pops of red and white wooden snowflakes.  I also put up our typical sentimental ornaments.  And our handmade salt dough ornaments that we did this year.

We have a faux cedar garland from Ballard Designs that I use every year on our mantle.  I used our diy wood bead garland to add a little rustic interest.  Have you guys tried those glimmer lights?  I love them!  I use them everywhere I can.  Here they are draped on our faux cedar garland and come on with just a push of a button.  No dangling cords!

This was my stocking from when I was little.  My hubby and I have both still have ours from our childhoods.  I like to take ornaments and tie them to each of our stockings during the Christmas Season.

This antique mirror I picked up from an old salvage store.  It weighs a ton!  It’s actually a door.  It came from a very old house.  I love it so much and would never part with it, even though it’s chipped and the mirror is faded.  I always add a little boxwood wreath to it during the Holidays.

I don’t have many Christmas pillows but this red and white scripted lettering is one.  The farmhouse stripe we already had and fit in perfectly!

Here’s a quick peek into our kitchen.  I love using grocery store finds to decorate seasonally.  A trio of Pellogrinos and cherry tomatoes bring some much needed red and green in here.  Along with some red striped tea towels.

I have this red dutch oven that I usually store away but I always bring it out for Christmas.  It’s perfect for making a large batch of homemade potpourri.   That advent calendar on the right was my husband Sean’s from when he was little.  My kids take turns each day.  It’s so cute and we always get a ton of compliments on it.

If you turn around from the kitchen, this is what you see.  You look back into our dining room and living room.  I love how open our house is.  It’s going to be even more open after our renovation!

This is our dining buffet which really doesn’t fit in this space anymore but I don’t want to part with it yet.  My ceramic tree is my grandmothers.  She is no longer with us but I’m so happy I have it here in our house.  I miss her so much.  She was an amazing cook, baker and spoke fluent Italian.  (I didn’t put the beads on it this year though because it’s a toddler hazard!)  This round mirror is from West Elm.

Simple hurricane fillers get swapped for the seasons.  This Christmas, I’m using fresh Cranberries.  Not sure how long they will last but they look so pretty in there.

Here is a closeup of my ceramic tree.  I actually might prefer it without the colored beads…what do you guys think?

Well, that concludes the christmas tour this year.  I want to thank you all so much for being here.  Let me know if you have questions about anything and I’ll be happy to answer them.  Talk to you all soon!
