Hey guys! Happy soon to be Thanksgiving! If there is one thing I love to do, it’s arrange beautiful flowers. And I really don’t like to spend a lot of money doing it. I usually look to my backyard. Or my grocery store. For this post, I wanted to show you two ways of arranging with grocery store flowers.
We are going with shades of pink – and that’s my first tip. Use flowers in the same color family to elevate the look! I went with pink tulips, peachy pink carnations, and pinky lavender dahlias. This will work with any color. Whatever you are in the mood for!
Don’t you just love the colors?
I realize it’s a little out of the norm to have these colors at this time, but oh well. I’m living on the edge. 🙂 I was really in the mood for these colors.
Here’s another tip – choose at least three different types of flowers – or just choose one. Using just one grouping of flowers just keeps it simple and neat. With three, you can bring in various shades of the color.
Ignore the dirt in the bottom of the vase there – LOL. I cleaned it out and put some fresh water in. Here’s another tip for this tutorial – cut all your stems short. I’m not using a big vase for this. I want my flowers to be bunchy (is that word?) and have that full look. That’s a good way to stretch your budget too since you don’t have to buy a lot.
Ok – here’s another tip. Use at least one bushier variety of flower.
For me, it’s the oh so pretty dahlias. They really fill out the arrangement.
Now, here’s two ways to arrange them. First – arrange your bushier flowers in the middle and the tulips or smaller stem flowers to the outside. Like so…
Second way is to do the opposite. Bushier flowers to the outside. Which do you prefer?
I think I’m partial to the tulips on the outside. I prefer the bushy flowers in the middle.
Tip : Don’t forget to use your floral packets and change your water frequently to keep those blooms around for as long as possible.
How about this for a cute little hostess gift? You would have to buy a little vase but this one here didn’t cost me that much. The flowers cost a total of $11 and change. Not too bad and looks so pretty! Who wouldn’t love to get this?
I know this is a busy week coming up for you all and I appreciate you stopping in to check the blog. Check back for some additional posts and Black Friday sales if you can!
