Hi and happy 4th (a little early)! I hope everyone is enjoying these early days of summer. For us, summer is a time for minimalism. Lots of open windows and warm breezes, lots of fresh flowers and greenery and just keeping the overall vibe very light and clean and neutral. Especially since I tend to go a little overboard at the holidays! I just love this time of year, don’t you? I’ve put together a few snapshots of our home right now. I hope you enjoy!
I just love terra cotta anything! These little terra cotta pots are perfect for beautiful succulents. I tuck them on shelves and tables all over the house.
This home has so much character. Little details like this beautiful little window that shows a peek of the outside. I have my little ceramic birds perched here.
I’m in the process of changing out my pillows. I make a lot of my own pillow covers and just buy the fabric. You can save so much money that way! If there is a pre made pillow that I just have to have, I get it. But I really do try to replicate it myself first. And yes, we have a cove ceiling. I would love to hang my curtains higher, but it just won’t look right with the molding where it is. This is as high as I could go. I would also love some new woven neutral blinds to really warm up the space. Ahhh, all in time!
This is one of my favorite views. Doesn’t this window look like a framed painting? Also, I do love this jute rug from Pottery Barn. However, toddlers and jute rugs don’t mix in my opinion. Well they don’t under a dining room table. My son who is 20 months old just loves to throw his food on the floor. I’m constantly trying to suck up crumbs with the vacuum that literally get stuck in the rug. Luckily, I love to vacuum. 🙂
The picture above is a tiny itty bitty peek into our kitchen. We hung rustic style open shelving this year and bought a new rug but that’s it for now. We have big plans for that room. Big. Plans.
I am sucker for pretty little planters! I picked this one up at a local garden shop and it makes a nice home for my spider plant.
Well, that’s it for now! I definitely like decor that feels clean and I don’t like to have too much of anything (except pillows and planters and vacuums). But also like a home to feel cozy and welcoming, not stark. I’m always trying to strike the right balance there. I think rustic and textured accents like wooden shelving, jute rugs, baskets, woven shades, chunky throws etc, add such a warmth to a room without making it look too overdone and busy. Enjoy your 4th and thanks for reading as always!
