The salt and pepper shakers are shaped like UFOs. That tiny detail tells you a lot about this Connecticut breakfast spot before you even see a menu.

Overhead, a deep blue ceiling glows with painted stars. A yellow brick road runs through the place and leads to an art gallery.

Yes, an actual gallery, right next to your home fries.

I like how the food refuses to play it small. The omelet list fills an entire side of the menu, and many of them hide a creamy surprise inside.

I can’t imagine scanning those names without grinning at least once.

There are arcade games too, plus a playful rule about bad attitudes. I believe a morning spot this weird and this hearty deserves an early alarm.

So, are you ready to eat breakfast in outer space?

Breakfast at Cosmic Omelet happens under a night sky, even when the sun is barely up. The ceiling is painted a deep blue and dotted with glow-in-the-dark stars.

That one choice changes the whole mood of the room. Instead of a plain diner ceiling, you get the feeling of eating pancakes in a planetarium.

The theme keeps going beneath your feet. The floor is painted with stars, planets, and a swirling cosmic spiral that pulls your eyes in every direction.

Then there are the tables themselves. Even the salt and pepper shakers are shaped like little UFOs, ready for takeoff next to your coffee mug.

The walls add their own flavor with funky decor and handmade art. Awards and honors from local publications also hang around the room, quietly bragging on the kitchen’s behalf.

Fair warning, the space leans cozy and busy rather than sleek. Every corner has something to look at, which makes it a fun place for kids and curious grown-ups.

Science fiction fans will feel right at home here. Honestly, the retro space vibe could make anyone want to hum a theme song between bites.

2. Cream Cheese Is The Secret Ingredient That Earns The Cosmic Name

Here’s a menu code worth cracking. At Cosmic Omelet, an omelet labeled Cosmic means cream cheese has joined the party.

That creamy layer turns a regular egg dish into something rich and a little decadent. It also explains why so many omelets on the menu carry the Cosmic title.

Tracy’s Cosmic Omelet is a good place to start. It packs tomato, red onions, cilantro, cheddar, and cream cheese into one fresh, colorful fold.

Meat lovers have plenty to chase. Josho’s Cosmic Omelet brings shaved steak, mushrooms, cream cheese, and cheddar together like an old-school steakhouse breakfast.

Nate’s version keeps things simple with sausage, onions, and cream cheese. Alligator’s Cosmic Omelet swaps in ground beef with onions, cream cheese, and cheddar.

Want some heat? Joey’s Cosmic Omelet adds hot peppers to sausage, mushrooms, cream cheese, and cheddar, while the Cosmic Mad Max mixes shaved steak with hot peppers and Tracy’s mix.

The Cosmic Cloud Nine goes a different way with turkey, tomato, bacon, and cream cheese. Picking just one might be the hardest decision you make all week.

3. An Entire Side Of The Menu Belongs To Omelets, And Their Names Are Wild

Only the Provolonely Omelet. Read that name once and try not to smile.

The jokes come with real substance, though. That one is stuffed with sausage, mushrooms, spinach, and provolone, so the pun has serious flavor backing it up.

Cosmic Omelet treats the omelet list like a playground. The Three Pig Omelet piles on ham, bacon, and sausage with American cheese, which is basically a farm parade inside an egg.

The Mc omelette borrows from a fast-food favorite. It mixes cheese and burger with ketchup, mustard, onions, and pickles for a breakfast that tastes like lunch.

Sandwich fans should eye the Philly Omelet. Shaved steak, onions, mushrooms, peppers, and American cheese make it a cheesesteak in disguise.

Greens get their moment too. The Green Giant pairs ham with broccoli and cheddar, and there’s also a Western, a Big Cheese, and a Bacon Cheeseburger option.

Each omelet is typically made with three eggs. Plates usually come with hash browns, home fries, or grits, plus toast, and egg whites are available for an extra charge.

4. Vegetarians Get Their Own Spot On The Launchpad

Skipping meat doesn’t mean skipping the fun at Cosmic Omelet. The menu makes room for plant-leaning eaters without treating them like an afterthought.

The Vegetarian Omelet is the obvious choice. It’s a straightforward pick for anyone who wants eggs, veggies, and cheese without any bacon sneaking in.

The Morningstar Omelet is the creative one. It folds a veggie burger into the eggs with provolone and Tracy’s mix, which gives it a hearty, burger-night feel.

Tracy’s Cosmic Omelet also works for meat-free mornings. Tomato, red onions, cilantro, cheddar, and cream cheese make it bright and filling at the same time.

Sides help round things out. You can choose hash browns, home fries, or grits, and plates usually come with toast.

Lighter options sit on the menu as well. Granola and fruit and yogurt parfaits offer a gentler start if a giant omelet feels like too much before noon.

Mixed groups will appreciate that balance. One friend can tackle the Three Pig Omelet while another enjoys a veggie plate, and nobody has to settle.

5. Not An Egg Person? Cinnamon Roll Pancakes Have Your Back

Pancakes with a cinnamon roll twist? Sweet idea.

Cosmic Omelet serves up this tempting treat, proving there’s plenty more to its breakfast menu than eggs.

The griddle stays busy with pancakes and French toast for anyone craving something sweeter. Eggs benedict also show up on the menu for brunch lovers who want a classic.

Breakfast sandwiches are built big. Each one comes with two eggs and two slices of cheese, which makes it a solid grab for hungry mornings.

The sides deserve their own spotlight. Biscuits and sausage gravy, chicken sausage with sourdough toast, and a fresh baked good of the day all appear on the menu.

Then there’s something called Stoner Cereal. The name alone is enough to make you curious, and it fits the playful personality of the whole place.

One quick heads-up will save you a question. Waffles are not served here, so set your heart on pancakes instead.

Breakfast runs all day, which is great news for late risers. A smaller lunch menu also offers sandwiches, burgers, wraps, and quesadillas when eggs just won’t cut it.

6. Follow The Yellow Brick Road Straight To Local Art

Dorothy had her yellow brick road, and so does this breakfast spot. At Cosmic Omelet, a painted path leads diners toward an art gallery.

Following it is half the fun. The road also guides you toward the restrooms and the arcade, so you’ll likely take that walk at some point anyway.

The gallery showcases work by local artists. Pieces there can be for sale, which means you might leave with a painting along with a full stomach.

That setup gives the restaurant a community feel. Artists get a place to share their work, and diners get a mini museum stop with their meal.

The gallery wasn’t always part of the plan. Around 2011, Cosmic Omelet laid out plans to expand into a neighboring space with room for art and a gift shop.

Today, the gallery is a big part of the experience. Handmade art spreads through the dining room too, so the creativity never really stops.

Don’t rush out after your last bite. A slow stroll down that bright path is the perfect way to let breakfast settle.

7. Pocket Some Quarters Because Asteroids Is Waiting

Asteroids, pinball, and Street Fighter all live under one roof at Cosmic Omelet. That’s a pretty great lineup for a place built around eggs.

The arcade games sit near the back with the gallery and restrooms. It turns a wait for food or the bill into a mini game night.

Forgot to bring coins? No problem, since there’s a change machine right there.

Somebody clearly planned for families who show up with dollar bills and restless kids.

Asteroids feels especially fitting here. Blasting space rocks under a starry ceiling is about as on-theme as breakfast can get.

The games also add to the retro charm of the room. Paired with the cosmic floor and funky walls, they give the place a throwback feel.

Parents may find the arcade handy. A few rounds of pinball can buy a little patience while the pancakes cook.

Grown-ups shouldn’t feel shy about playing either. A Street Fighter rematch between friends could easily become a new weekend tradition.

Just remember to save room for the hash browns.

8. A Smoky Past Got Scrubbed Away In A Single Day

Before the stars and UFOs, this restaurant had a very different name. It was called The Smoking Cafe.

Change arrived with Connecticut’s restaurant smoking ban. The law took effect on September 30, 2003, and the old concept suddenly needed a fresh start.

Owner Tracy Devine, known as the Cosmic Lady, acted fast. She closed for one day to clean nicotine from the walls, then reopened as Cosmic Omelet.

That quick turnaround says a lot about her spirit. One day of scrubbing launched a breakfast spot that has kept going for more than two decades.

The space look grew over time. The first major renovation came in 2005, and that’s when the interior mural was created.

Tracy’s name shows up on the menu too. Tracy’s Cosmic Omelet and Tracy’s mix both carry her personal stamp.

Her sense of humor seems to shape the rules as well. The restaurant has a playful up charge for anyone with a bad attitude, so bring your best manners.

Honestly, a smile costs nothing here.

9. Set Your Alarm Early And Mind The Tuesday Rule

Early breakfast has its perks. Especially when giant omelets and a ceiling full of stars are waiting.

Cosmic Omelet gives morning people plenty of reasons to get moving, although sleeping in a little still leaves time for a good meal.

Doors open at 6 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Sundays begin at 7 a.m., while closing time is 1 p.m. every operating day.

Tuesdays are reserved for a break, so save your breakfast plans for another morning.

Once you’re seated, table service makes the visit easygoing. Sip your coffee, admire the funky decorations, and enjoy the unusual atmosphere while the kitchen handles breakfast.

There’s even pinball to add a little fun to the morning. Groups should arrive together, since everyone needs to be present before getting seated.

The restaurant sits at 485 Hartford Rd, Manchester, CT 06040, with parking available right outside. Being just east of Hartford makes it a convenient stop during a weekend outing.

Arriving earlier gives you more time to enjoy the food before the afternoon closing.

Between the oversized omelets and playful interior, this breakfast outing has plenty of personality. Even an early alarm might feel worth it.
