Best Boucle Chairs for Every Budget
If you’re in the market for a new accent chair, boucle is a great fabric option. It’s stylish and unique, and it can add a touch of luxury to any room. We’ve collected the best boucle chairs on the market right now and most are priced under $1000. So whether you’re looking for a traditional or more contemporary style, or need something for a small space, there’s sure to be something here for you!
What is Boucle?
Boucle (pronounced as “booclay”) is a type of yarn that is made from two or more different colors of thread. It’s often used to create textured and interesting fabrics. It was made popular in the 50s in the fashion world through the infamous Coco Chanel.
Bouclé fabric is super soft and feels nubby under your skin, but not in a bad way. Like a giant teddy bear in my opinion. If you see something covered in boucle, you can’t help but touch it. It’s a great way to add some texture and character to a room.
I typically see Bouclé chairs in more neutral colors; such as cream, tan and gray. These chairs can be used in almost any room, but I most often see these chairs in dining rooms and living rooms or bedrooms.

The best Boucle Chairs
Chairs under $400.
BHG Swivel Chair
First up is this amazing option from Walmart! I love their Better Homes and Gardens line and they just happen to have a very popular Sherpa Swivel chair dupe for the more expensive Gwenyth chair, (also listed below if you scroll down.) Now is this boucle? It’s sherpa, which is basically a fuzzier boucle. And while sherpa can mat over time if not cared for, this is still a hella bargain chair and worth putting on this list of options. The frame is hardwood and the seat cushion reverses. So it’s easy to hide any potential stains or mats down the road. Just sayin’.
Studio McGee Boucle Chairs
Target has some amazing options, and we can thank Studio McGee and Threshold for that. This first one has more of a classic look, and I love how those warm wood legs are exposed.
This next option from Target is more rounded and larger, which would make a fantastic accent chair for a reading nook!
Madison Swivel
Ok, this next one is technically a rocker, as in a nursery rocker, but I don’t see why you can put this in your living room as well. It’s so stylish looking and has great reviews.
Wayfair Barrel Boucle Chair
Another good option from Wayfair is this barrel chair with a curved back and black legs. You can score this one for a fantastic price.
Deshaune 33″ Wide Boucle
For another great option from Wayfair – check out this option. It comes in different colors if you are looking for something a little different.
Chairs under $750.
Elia Swivel Chair
Let’s start with a favorite! The Elia Swivel Chair from Poly and Bark. This one has a more modern design and is constructed of a polyester boucle. It also comes with a lumbar pillow in matching fabric.
Nova Boucle Swivel Chair
Higher in price, is the popular Nova Swivel Chair from Poly and Bark. The seat cushions is removable and this chair arrives fully assembled.
Burrow Pica Chair
A perfect chair for smaller spaces! I love Burrow because they sell high quality furniture and cut out the middleman, bringing the savings to you. Plus, everything ships free.
Deshaune Bouclé Accent Chair
This swivel boucle chair from Wayfair is another great option. The clean lines and simple design make it a great choice for any modern space. Plus, the boucle fabric adds just enough texture to make it interesting.
Amazon eLuxury
For a similar option on Amazon in light gray, check out this barrel chair from eLuxury Supply.
West Elm Cozy Swivel Chair
West Elm has a good option just under $700 with their Viv Swivel Chair. We own these chairs in gray and I can personally tell you how comfortable they are and how well they swivel. I keep moving them around the house because I guess I want one in every room!
Castlery Amber Boucle Chair
Finally, check out this option for the Amber Boucle Chair from Castlery. I’ve purchased from Castlery before, and can speak to the quality and customer service. This chair also comes with the option of a matching ottoman!

Chairs under $1000.
CB2 Gwyneth Ivory Boucle Chair
The Gwyneth Chair is one of the most boucle accent chairs on the list! I must have seen this one on Instagram a thousand times already. And maybe it’s because it was designed in collaboration with goop. Maybe it’s because it’s just a beautiful chair. Customers state that it elevates the look of whatever room you put it in. One negative is that it can get squeaky. But hey, isn’t that what they make WD-40 for?
CB2 Pavia Lounge Chair
CB2 has a stylish option with the Pavia Lounge Chair in polyester boucle. Customers state the chair has held up well to pets and is simply beautiful and so comfortable.
Lulu & Georgia Margie Chair
Lulu and Georgia also has a stylish polyester boucle chair for under $1000. The Margie Swivel Chair features a swivel wood base and soft rounded arms. The smaller dimensions on this one make it perfect for adding two or more to a room since they won’t take up a ton of space. This chair is in the featured image of this post FYI.
1Stop Bedrooms
If you want something very unique and very modern looking, check out the Clementine from 1StopBedrooms. This chair comes in many different colors and fabrics, but this is their boucle option. I love the swooping curves and leg base on this chair.
Anthropologie Bouclé Chairs
I love this armchair option from Anthropologie. The Atticus features leather wrapped wood arms and boucle upholstered seat and back cushion. If this doesn’t scream stylish I don’t know what does. This also comes in a Sherpa option!!
Just a hair under $1000 – Anthropologie also has this option. This boucle accent chair is a hefty 30 inches wide and 33 inches deep. It features a pine wood frame and ash legs. The seat cushion is removable, and the upholstery is a polyester and acrylic boucle.
Chairs over $1000.
McGee & Co. Teddy Bear Chair
Starting with McGee & Co. is their Teddy Bear Boucle Chair. This makes a good sized accent chair at 34 inches wide, and the high back will give you maximum comfort. This sits on top of a beautiful oak and birch hardwood frame and comes in two pretty colors as well.
Pottery Barn Briar Chair
For an even larger chair, we also have the popular Briar chair from Pottery Barn. This looks so incredibly cozy! But, I mean they all do. It’s bouclé. This one comes in 2 different colors and sits atop a steel and wood frame.
Womb Chair by Eero Saarinen
This is the chair that caused all the hype. It all started when Florence Knoll asked Eero Saarinen to design a chair that was “like a basket full of pillows – something she could really curl up in”. And here it is. The Iconic Womb Chair. If you want a less expensive dupe – you can check out the Weekend Fabric Chair & Ottoman from Kardiel.
Why Choose Boucle?
Boucle is a great choice for an accent chair because it’s both durable and stylish. It’s stain-resistant, and those little nubs hide any potential snags or pulls in the fabric. It’s also resistant to fading.
It’s a great option if you’re looking for something a little different from the norm. It’s oh so cozy – you’ll want to curl up in this chair and read a good book or watch a movie.
Boucle Vs. Sherpa
While both boucle and sherpa are similar (cousins, if you will), there are some differences. Sherpa is made from acrylic, cotton and polyester fibers. It’s often used in fashion because it’s cozy and pleasing to the eye. But Sherpa also has its place in home décor. I’ve seen it on throw pillows, bedding and blankets and yes, even furniture! Sherpa is fuzzy to the touch, and a less nubby feeling than boucle.
How to Care for Boucle
Boucle is a fairly low-maintenance fabric, but there are a few things you should keep in mind. Boucle can become matted and flat over time if it’s not brushed regularly.
To keep your boucle looking its best, vacuum it regularly with the upholstery attachment on your vacuum cleaner. You can also use a lint roller to remove any pet hair or lint that’s accumulated on the fabric.
Boucle is stain-resistant, but if you do happen to spill on it – use a damp, soft white cloth and a SMALL amount of dish soap or laundry detergent to blot it up immediately. It’s best to always refer to the manufacturer’s directions for cleaning.
You can Scotchguard them as soon as you get them to provide even more protection.
Boucle Furniture in Decorating
I would use boucle furniture as more of a single piece in a room — rather than having all boucle furniture. It’s a statement piece of furniture – so keep it neutral and to a set of chairs or a single sofa.
You want boucle chairs that are different enough to make a statement but not so different that they don’t “go” with the rest of your décor. That’s why I think it’s best to stick with neutral colors – whites, grays, and warm tans.
You will typically see boucle furniture in rounded and curved forms, which is a great way to add some softness and break up all the straight lines and square shapes of more traditional furniture.
Whatever chair you choose, you are sure to love it! I hope this list of best boucle chairs was a help. Thanks for visiting today.
