Ahhhh! We are finally at the end of this One Room Challenge. I can’t wait to show you guys our laundry room. It’s SO.MUCH.COZIER. I won’t bore you with too many details—let’s get to the picture tour!
I did include links to the items (or similar items) I used at the bottom of this post. And don’t forget to go back to the ORC blog here and check out all the other makeovers when you’re done.
Before
Let’s quickly peek at what this laundry room looked like before. It was very plain, with those wire shelves—eek! I really can’t stand wire shelves. The window here is so cute, though.
A lot of this makeover involved decluttering and adding storage and organization. And color! I’m trying to break out of my shell and add more color and personality to our spaces.
After
And here’s the photo tour for how it looks now!
The first order of business was installing wainscoting on the bottom half of the walls. You know I love a good wall treatment, and it’s the best way to add character to plain-jane rooms. The accent wall and wainscoting were painted Gravel Gray by Benjamin Moore. I tend to gravitate towards rich navy colors. This is the same color we painted our kitchen island right outside the door, so it ties together nicely.
I added a laundry room countertop and a peg rail for storage. I fold clothes on the countertop all the time!
Above the wainscoting, I added a vintage-looking wallpaper. It is a steal from Amazon. Seriously, you will not believe how cheap it is! The paper is a little thin, but it went up beautifully. The pattern is super forgiving, which is nice for those who aren’t perfect at putting up wallpaper (aka me).
The wallpaper has sage green and orange tones, contrasting nicely with the navy wainscoting while adding some warmth and cozy to this space.
Here’s a close-up of the wallpaper for you to see!
I added this white storage cabinet to hide all the ugly stuff. I wanted to build my own cabinet, but this price was hard to beat. Eventually, I may build my own cabinet here and extend it all the way up to the ceiling.
Speaking of hiding the ugly stuff, I bought these adorable canisters as a set from Amazon. I use one to hold laundry pods and the other to hold dryer sheets. It’s one of those little things that bring you joy every time you use it.
The open shelving was a bonus! My husband bought these but didn’t want to use them, and we couldn’t take them back, so I put them here for now.
