I always get summer-exhausted by the end of August. I’m done with the heat. I’m done with all the watering. And I’m done with the air conditioning. I want to drop open my windows and feel that delicious rush of crisp, cool fall air.
Even if the weather isn’t quite cooperating yet, we can still bring that fall feeling into our homes in several easy ways. Today’s post is about how to transition decor from summer to fall.
When to put out fall decor?
I think the end of August/beginning of September is fair game. Most kids have started school, pre-season football is on our TVs, and the grocery store has started selling Halloween Candy.
We are all thinking about it anyways, so why not?
summer to fall touches
Here are some of the simple touches I set out until I go full speed into Halloween.
hang a fall wreath
This is one of the first things I do! I love hanging a festive fall wreath on our front door. Amazon is chock full of them, and I picked this one up a few days ago.
It required a good amount of fluffing out of the box, but it was worth it. Last year, my wreath was this golden pampas one with a pretty orange ribbon. You are not just limited to front doors, ough. Wreaths look pretty hung on interior hooks and over mirrors.
Switch up your Faux Stems
I have a number of vases throughout the house with summer grasses, white flowers, and the like. Time to switch it up!
bring in the fall scents
I love to pick up a new fall scent or two. Target and Marshalls are my go-to’s for inexpensive fall candles in pretty amber-colored jars. But I also switch up my Pura with the latest fall scent offerings.
fill a bowl with fall fillers
This is one of the easiest ways to bring in fallfallhout going too crazy. Take a pretty bowl and fill it with things that remind you of the season. I like pinecones, faux artichokes, potpourri, and mini pumpkins.
Bring out the cozy textiles
My husband laughs that I bring out these cozy blankets when the weather here is still 95 degrees But if it brings the cozy to your spaces, I’m here for it. Cozy blankets draped over the arm of a sofa or chair or a fall colored boucle pillow can add so much pretty fall warmth and texture.
add in fall art
I have a few leaning frames of art that I love to refresh for the seasons. These brown-colored leaf prints take me into Fall until I switch it up for Halloween and Xmas. You can also add in some seasonal TV art. Check out the art shop for the latest fall offerings.
