Moon Pod Review – Is it Worth It?
Have you heard of Moon Pod? It’s basically the “it” bean bag chair loved by customers, celebrities and professional athletes alike. Moon Pod gifted me a chair & ottoman and I’m breaking down my thoughts in this detailed Moon Pod Review.
If you’re wondering whether you should get one yourself, or if you’ve been looking for better bean bag chair, keep reading…
About Moon Pod
First, allow me to give you a brief introduction to Moon Pod. In a nutshell (bean bag shell?), the Moon Pod is an ergonomically designed bean bag chair. It’s filled with custom density beads that are durable and meant to last for years. It’s a more modern take on the bean bag chair, hence the spacey, out-of-this-world product names, like the Lunar Lift and Crescent Moon.

This ergonomic design and unique bead fill are meant to feel similar to Flotation Therapy. What’s that, you ask? Basically, flotation therapy helps you relax, and so does Moon Pod (minus the water obviously). It’s a zero gravity feeling meant to support you in all the right places.
Here are some of the other benefits:
- reduce stress
- relieve anxiety
- relieve back and neck pain
- improve sleep
- deepen meditation
Moon Pod Review
Now that you know some of the basics, let’s get to what we really think about it.
Moon Pod Options
Here’s how the Moon Pod looks when not in use. Kind of like a blob.

You can sit. You can lay. You can recline. It will conform to your body for a full support, floaty feeling.

According to the Moon Pod site, the standard chair is about “50-56 inches x 20-24 inches x 20-24 inches. As you sit on the product and it widens, the products gets shorter.” And it’s only 12 pounds (taking up a mere 4 sq ft of space) so you can move it around and switch it from room to room until your heart’s content!
Moon Pod offers the following products:
- Moon Pod (the Standard one I’m discussing here)
- Super Moon Pod (larger, designed for two people)
- Crescent (it’s a u shaped back rest that you use WITH the moon pod, it reminds me of a breast feeding pillow. Sorry.)
- Lunar Lift (like an ottoman)
- Moon Pod Pillow (yea, it’s a pillow)
- Outdoor Cover (made of a polyester, water-resistant material meant to protect your Moon Pod from the elements – great for lounging pool or beach side).
- Extra Covers – just in case you want to change up the color or need a new one.
If you want to buy more than one product, Moon Pod offers bundles.
- Quarter Moon Bundle (Moon Pod + Lunar Lift)
- Crescent Moon Bundle (Moon Pod + Crescent)
- Full Moon Bundle (Moon Pod + Crescent + Lunar Lift)
Currently, the Moon Pod is offered in the following solid colors: blue, gray, black, navy and pink. Not all colors are available for all products – keep this in mind.
When it arrives, you have to put the Moon Pod into the cover. The covers are machine washable which is great. I had no trouble getting the ottoman into its cover. I needed my husbands help to squeeze the Moon Pod into the cover (he had to hold the zipper together).

I guess that’s a good thing because you know it’s filled to the brim with beads. And a really stuffed bean bag chair just looks better.
Moon Pod Comfort
It’s designed for adults under 300lbs, and while any height can use the chair, my own personal opinion is that average height to shorter people will find this chair most comfortable (unless you opt for a pillow/crescent add-on).

The cover is super soft and feels just like Jersey sheets.
I’m 5’4 and I found it very comfortable to lay on for LONG periods of time. And yes, it did feel kind of like I was floating. You have to kind of shimmy your body on it until you find that perfect comfort spot.

My husband is 6’2, and while he found it comfortable, he wanted more head support (like I said, Moon Pod does make a pillow for that). My kids and their friends freakin’ love it. And they told me it makes a great video gaming chair. Who knew? 🙂
I think due to it’s size and washable covers, this makes a great playroom chair. Who wouldn’t want to curl up in this thing and watch a movie?
One word of warning: This is not for young babies and infants and even some small toddlers because of the risk of suffocation. Always better to be safe. My kids are all over the age of 7, so it’s been perfect for them (and us).

Your fur babies, aka pets, might also love this thing and claim it for their own. Mine has yet to discover it, but she typically shies away from the craziness that is our playroom. I’m wondering about animal claws and snags, but there are tons of reviews and photos of customers pets loving this thing so maybe it’s a moot point?
Moon Pod Pricing
As someone who has purchased a ton of bean bag chairs in her lifetime (hey, I was born in the 80s, ok?), and as someone who has even tried to DIY her own bean bag, the pricing is not bad.
I did some research at the time of writing this post, and found teeny tiny bean bags (for kids under 6) and COVERS only that you need to fill yourself with stuffed animals and soft toys for around $30 and upwards. Don’t even get me started on those.
Here is the pricing comparison on Moon Pod’s website. They are pretty much in line with some of the other well known bean bag brands. And definitely must less expensive than buying a piece of furniture. They also offer financing through AfterPay.

Moon Pod Shipping
Well, like a lot of things right now, it’s not a quick ship product. Blame it on weather and supply chains, I don’t know – you will get your Moon Pod but it’s not like a two day shipping thing.
They do offer free shipping to the continental US (and to Alaska and Hawaii for an additional fee). They don’t ship internationally or to PO Boxes or Military addresses as of right now.
Moon Pod Return Policy
They have a somewhat tight return policy: “All returns should be submitted within 14 from the day of delivery. Any return request after 14 days from the day of delivery cannot be considered.”

So if you don’t like it, you gotta send it back ASAP.
Overall Pros
- Super Comfortable for most adults and kids.
- Light.
- Washable Covers.
- Great for Playrooms!
- Helps you Relax, relieves stress, feels cool and floaty.
- Pricing is typical. Financing Available.
- Free Shipping to continental US.
Overall Cons
- Not a ton of color options yet, but the colors are pretty.
- Shipping can be a little slow.
- Small Return Window.
- Taller people might need to purchase an additional support.
Final Thoughts

Is it worth it? I think for the price you are paying and what you are getting, it’s definitely worth it. I highly recommend you consider one of the bundles. We will probably add on a Crescent to help with head support and overall comfort, but overall as is it’s very comfortable.
It’s been a great addition to our kids playroom, and it’s also super nice that I don’t have to worry about stains with the washable covers. If you’ve been looking for something to add to your TV lounge/playroom spaces – this could be your winner.
